The proposals seek to redevelop a derelict category C-listed former hotel building at 103-105 Henderson Street to create a new state-of-the art care home on the site, with parking and landscaping.
The proposed development would be completely sympathetic to the Bridge of Allan Conservation area and seek to embrace and reuse the existing principle facade. It would also remove derelict buildings, which currently detract from the character of the area.
The care home development would offer easy access to local amenities and services and provide 70 fully-compliant beds, set over three floors of two accommodation wings running north to south around a central core. The design would aim to maximise the outlook for the residents, with the third floor taking advantage of the panoramic views to the south towards Stirling Castle. When open, it will provide around 60 jobs for care and anxilliary staff.
Gary Sharp, managing director of Simply UK said:
“Our proposals at Bridge of Allan have been carefully thought-out to respect and enhance the local area. We believe the new development would make an important contribution to the local area by providing a much needed care supply and also provide local job opportunities.”
The plans were prepared for Simply UK by Yeoman McAllister Architects.
